Sunday Morning Worship

We want to start by saying how grateful we are to each and everyone of you for your continued grace, love and support as we navigate what it means to be a church in 2021. We know that every day brings about new challenges and decisions and we are doing our best to navigate how we, as Catalina UMC, continue to live out our call in our community.

Our recent survey had a total of 162 surveys returned and of those, 94 people have already returned to our in-person worship service on Sunday mornings. Of those who are currently attending in person, 57 would like to continue having one service on Sunday, alternating between contemporary and traditional.

The surveys also showed us that those who haven’t returned to in-person worship are mostly not returning because of the current numbers around COVID and their comfort level with being at larger in-person gatherings.

We also learned that the majority of people who are worshipping with us online would prefer to move back to LiveStreaming(you see what is taking place on Sunday morning as it happens) instead of pre-recording our worship services.

With that in mind, our staff and Administrative Board have approved the following plan to get us through January 31, 2022.

1. Sunday Morning Worship at 10am beginning Sunday October 3, 2021 We will continue to have one service, alternating traditional and contemporary every other week. This will happen through at least January 30, 2022.

2. We will move our online worship service to 10am also beginning Sunday October 3, 2021. Our goal will be to switch this to a LiveStream worship service instead of prerecorded by November 7, 2021*.
*November 7 is our target date, but is dependent on us being able to find the right staff person to run our LiveStreaming.
Links will be provided weekly and posted on Facebook for how to join our Live worship service at 10am.

3. We will have two Christmas Eve worship services:
6pm- Contemporary/Family Friendly Worship
8pm- Traditional Worship

Once we have made it through the holidays our staff and leadership will use January to re-evaluate the current situation and determine if we are ready to return to our normal worship schedule.

If you have any questions about our schedule for the rest of 2021 and into 2022 please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of us for clarification. We look forward to worshipping with you in the months ahead.
Grace and Peace,
